The Best Way to Download Final Fantasy XIV Online: Choose Your Platform and Region

Final Fantasy XIV is currently one of the most popular MMOs globally. With Endwalker, the latest expansions, the player base has exploded to hundreds of thousands as players new and old flock to the game. But how do you download the client for Final Fantasy XIV?

where to download final fantasy 14 client

Unfortunately, until Jan. 25, 2022, the game will not be purchasable. This is due to excessive congestion and queues during the release of the Endwalker expansion. So, downloading the client will not necessarily allow you to play the game right away. Free trials are also halted until that date.

Noob question here. I purchased a pc download copy of this game last weekend from the SE site, but since had to system restore my computer due to my video card drivers went kaputt. How do i go about reinstalling the FFXIV client? My downloads got wiped and checked my confirmation email i got from SE and did'nt see a link to the download. Any ideas?

You can play the game without disc if you have the digital download version of FINAL FANTASY XIV: Online installed.*The PlayStation5 version is only available as a digital download. If you currently play with the disc version but wish to play without the disc, you can obtain the digital version of FINAL FANTASY XIV: Online client by downloading the FINAL FANTASY XIV Free Trial from the PlayStationStore.By uninstalling the existing client and installing the FINAL FANTASY XIV Free Trial, you will be able to play the game without a disc. Please note that if you already have the FINAL FANTASY XIV Free Trial or the digital version of FINAL FANTASY XIV: Online installed, you can continue to play without a disc whether you purchase the disc or digital version of the expansion packs.

Using the official Mac client and a new Free Trial account, I attempted to reinstall, and got the same result: black splash screen with white logo. I then edited the FFXIV_BOOT.cfg file, setting "Browser 1" (from Browser 2). The game properly launched the old style login screen (Heavensward art), and I logged in properly. Now, waiting two to three hours for the download to complete.

The following links can be used to download the game client on your platform ofchoice. Please note that you need to purchase the gameand have a Square EnixAccount and an active subscription to play the following versions of the game. If you wish to play the free trial instead, go to the freetrial page to create a free trial accountand download the free trial version of the game.

You'll obviously have to be a Lineage II subscriber to get in on the action, and you should make sure the test client you download is installed in a different folder to the one the normal game is in, since it'll result in a corrupted game client if you don't. But panic not if you've rushed ahead and already made this mistake - a re-install will soon set things right again.

Honestly, I've tried downloading the data files (and I think I have a mirror sitting somewhere on my harddrive) but I just can't for the life of me figure out what to do with that file. It's a database format of some kind. I run Windows. I'm insulated from doing anything real.

Should it come with interfaces for an array of platforms, say Linux, Windows, Mac, or should it simply be a general data-only distribution where a client is required to be downloaded separately? This becomes less applicable if a HTML only approach is taken

So, I started already experimenting a little bit. Downloaded the cur-Table of the german Wiki (1 GB unpacked), deleted the content of the discussion-pages to speed up my MySQL-Server a little bit and started a HSQL-Database which only contains the Titles of all pages, the equivalent IDs and the is_redirect column. To speed up searches for the title I added a col 'utitle' which contains the title in uppercase to support case-insensitive search in a reasonable time. This... and the index on this columns increased the speed of an search with a wildcard *dramaticaly*. The search for every entries (which can easily be >> 5000) by a wildcard (where utitle like 'E%') endures only max. half a second. The table is about 120MB now. This is not quite small but is beaten up by the fast search! I thought it would be possible to store the text-files in a directory-structure - each file shrinked by bzip or gzip. Perhaps a better solution would be to store this in the HSQL-Database, too but had no expreriences with storing binary (compressed) data there. Compression saves >60% data here. The format had to be as in the MySQL-table an no prerendered HTML for many reasons (possible to discuss that). As I think these text-files will take 400-500MB for the german wiki. That brings me to a big problem: How to generate HTML out of the wiki-markup? Thought of implementing php as standalone (invoced as a executable by the java app) because its available for nearly all platforms, too. But I thinks that idea is bullshit. So I had a look at Parser.php ... think its possible to port it to java but a BIG job. No solution for that at this time. This makes me currently headaches. Then comes the Lucene-index. I have already some experiences with lucene-indexes about 3000-4000 documents but 300.000 (as in the german wikipedia) is another league. Have no idea how big the size of the luceneindex would be. ... think about 150MB could be possible. Then the images... tooooooo big.Does anyone know where I can get a download for the images of the commons`? Or is there none? Ive only seen the images of the de-wiki. Its about 10GB now. Ill download it the next days to get an impression on that. There will be a way to filter unused pictures (which are not linkes to a page or only on user-pages...) but even that will be too much. If there comes additional the data of some commons-pics the size will exhaust. Dont know if its realistic to resize and recompress every image. Think even big servers will need a lot of time for this job and currently Ive no idea how big the result will be. Do one have to kill some pics? Or split on 2 DVDs?

Is there really currently no way to simply download or order the data on DVD? I'm not interested in if it should be a .exe, a bootable CD, a bunch of HTML files. For my own personal use, I'd like to have the DB data (including images) so that I can experiment with different ways of accessing the data, different GUIs etc. Then there is also the bigger issue of making sure that the data isn't just sitting on one server somewhere, where it could disappear at any time due to all sorts of reasons. The page currently isn't very helpful at all for people who just want to know if or when the data is made available. 122.57.130.204 14:19, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It was originally created by kiwix.org but it was one contiguous .zip file by direct download; after I had downloaded it the main schools-wikipedia-full-20081023-rc5.zim file in it had turned out to be broken. I got the .zim file from elsewhere and fixed it on my end.

I've split the 2.6GB package into 27 parts of 100 mb each using 7-zip, so that it's easier for people on slower or interrupted connections to download. Once downloaded and unzipped, you have a 2.6GB folder with an autorun that can be directly written to any DVD or USB Drive and then it can run the Wikipedia For Schools anywhere (pre-indexed, btw). This is a Windows version - and here in India at least, most of the schools where I want to proliferate this have Windows OS.

I need help - committed individuals and organizations that can download their copy or meet me in Pune, India and copy it, and start spreading it as far and wide as possible. Also, someone with a mighty internet connection can make a torrent and start seeding it - that would be awesome. And finally, please spread the word. Please contact me on email: nikhil.js(at)gmail.com, twitter: @nikhiljs or on my Talk page. Nikhilsheth 02:51, 25 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
