Where To Buy Large Foam Board

Foam board insulation is easy to use and is a great DIY way to add some insulation. It comes in standard-size 48 sheets, and smaller sizes, in many different thicknesses from 1/4 inch to 2 inches. Some types of thicker foam board insulation are available, but they may need to be special ordered.

Because of its resistance to moisture, foam board insulation is a great choice whenever and wherever there is a chance it could get wet, such as: an exterior foundation, inside a basement against the foundation, and on the outside of a house beneath a house wrap. Foam board insulation is more expensive than traditional batt insulation, so use it only when moisture is a factor and it makes sense with your budget.

Foam board signs are a great way to advertise any business or event in a professional, stylish, and eye-catching display. Their extreme affordability and versatility make foam boards a very popular choice for indoor signage options.

Foam board signs, also known as foam core signs, are an economical, professional, and lightweight sign option. This type of board is made of an extruded polystyrene foam center with two layers of coated paper on either side. The coating acts as a primer and is made explicitly for direct printing with UV ink. Both the front and back surfaces are smooth, untextured, and ideal for printing solid color, text, vivid graphics, and photographic imagery.

UltraBoard has styrene (plastic) faces with the same inner foam as foam board. The plastic faces give it a luster finish and make it a bit more durable than foam board, but they can get chipped if the UltraBoard is dropped.

The strongest material out there is Gator Board. Gator Board has paper faces, just like foam board, but includes a heavy-duty inner core. Because Gator Board uses paper faces, the printed product has a matte finish. This material can also be ordered with a black foam center for a different type of look.

Foam Board is a thin, lightweight board that consists of a special paper mounted upon a foam core. Used primarily for creating displays, mounting posters, making architectural models, and for craft projects, foam board comes in pre-cut sheets that are easy to cut into custom sizes. Foam board can be written on or decorated with most markers and acrylic paints, even spray paints. Use adhesive sprays and glue sticks to affix photos, paper, and embellishments for displays and signs. Non-toxic glue sticks are suitable for children's projects. New additions to the foam board world include foam boards covered with cork, black chalkboard paper, holographic foam board, waterproof foam board, and colored and black core foam board. Avoid using waterbased glues on foam board, which may cause the surface paper to buckle or shrink.

Foam board is a lightweight material that is popular because of its low cost, lightweight and easily transported. Foam board poster material is rigid and is an excellent visual aid for your Big Check because of the smooth surface and low glare. All our foam board checks are printed direct to material using in full color UV inks for a vivid print.

We don't print our larger Big Checks on foam boards because in our experience foam boards tend to damage really easily during shipping. We offer Economy or PVC board checks because they are more durable and typically won't be damaged during shipping. The only size we offer in foam boards is the 16x32 since, this board is smaller it is less likely to damage during shipping.

Foam board material is also known as Foam Core, is light weight, rigid board with a foam core sandwiched between two layers of white coated paper. The board has a naturally semi-glossy appearance. The foam board material should be kept away from any high humidity or moisture because it will damage, warp, or get soggy if wet.

Foam board signs are made with a paper face and a foam core center. They are inexpensive and easily to replace without digging a hole in your pocket. Foam board signs are most suitable for indoor use and is not a good option for outdoor use since it's susceptible to prolonged exposure to moisture and sunlight.

You can use Foam Board Signs outdoors, however, we don't recommend it because the foam board is so fragile it easily damages, and it will absorb any moisture. If you are looking for outdoor signage we recommend you checking out our Corrugated Plastic Signs , PVC Signs , and Aluminum Signs.

Some refer to foamcore signs as " poster board signs " or " mounted poster board ". The custom foam boards are made of two pieces of poster paper with a foamcore middle making it a rigid sign much like a thick poster board

No, we print directly to the foam board material using high quality UV inks. Mounted prints are when the graphic is printed on a sheet of paper or vinyl then it's mounted onto the foam material with and adhesive. In our experience printing direct to material produces just as high quality results as custom foam board mounting.

The maximum thermal performance or R-value of insulation is very dependent on proper installation. Homeowners can install some types of insulation -- notably blankets, boards, and materials that can be poured in place. (Liquid foam insulation materials can be poured, but they require professional installation). Other types require professional installation.

Foam boards -- rigid panels of insulation -- can be used to insulate almost any part of your home, from the roof down to the foundation. They are very effective in exterior wall sheathing, interior sheathing for basement walls, and special applications such as attic hatches. They provide good thermal resistance (up to 2 times greater than most other insulating materials of the same thickness), and reduce heat conduction through structural elements, like wood and steel studs. The most common types of materials used in making foam board include polystyrene, polyisocyanurate (polyiso), and polyurethane.

ICF systems consist of interconnected foam boards or interlocking, hollow-core foam insulation blocks. Foam boards are fastened together using plastic ties. Along with the foam boards, steel rods (rebar) can be added for reinforcement before the concrete is poured. When using foam blocks, steel rods are often used inside the hollow cores to strengthen the walls.

Loose-fill insulation consists of small particles of fiber, foam, or other materials. These small particles form an insulation material that can conform to any space without disturbing structures or finishes. This ability to conform makes loose-fill insulation well suited for retrofits and locations where it would be difficult to install other types of insulation.

The type of insulation you should choose depends on how you will use it and on your budget. While closed-cell foam has a greater R-value and provides stronger resistance against moisture and air leakage, the material is also much denser and is more expensive. Open-cell foam is lighter and less expensive but should not be used below ground level where it could absorb water. Consult a professional insulation installer to decide what type of insulation is best for you.

Liquid foam insulation -- combined with a foaming agent -- can be applied using small spray containers or in larger quantities as a pressure-sprayed (foamed-in-place) product. Both types expand and harden as the mixture cures. They also conform to the shape of the cavity, filling and sealing it thoroughly.

Installation of most types of liquid foam insulation requires special equipment and certification and should only be done by experienced installers. Following installation, an approved thermal barrier equal in fire resistance to half-inch gypsum board must cover all foam materials. Also, some building codes don't recognize sprayed foam insulation as a vapor barrier, so installation might require an additional vapor retarder.

SIPs not only have high R-values but also high strength-to-weight ratios. A SIP typically consists of 4- to 8-inch-thick foam board insulation sandwiched between two sheets of oriented strand board (OSB) or other structural facing materials. Manufacturers can usually customize the exterior and interior sheathing materials to meet customer requirements. The facing is glued to the foam core, and the panel is then either pressed or placed in a vacuum to bond the sheathing and core together.

Fire safety is a concern, but when the interior of the SIP is covered with a fire-rated material, such as gypsum board, it protects the facing and foam long enough to give building occupants a chance to escape.
