Wing Chun Kung Fu

Wing Chun Kung Fu is another well-known and widely practiced style of kung fu. It originated from the southern part of China, in the Guangdong province, and was developed by a woman named Ng Mui, who was one of the five elders of the Shaolin Temple. Wing Chun Kung Fu is based on the principles of simplicity, efficiency and economy of motion.

Wing Chun Kung Fu has three main forms: Siu Nim Tao (Little Idea), Chum Kiu (Seeking the Bridge) and Biu Jee (Thrusting Fingers). It also has a wooden dummy form, which is a training device that simulates an opponent. Wing Chun Kung Fu focuses on close-range combat, using centerline punches, low kicks, trapping and grappling techniques. It also uses weapons such as the butterfly swords and the long pole.

Wing Chun Kung Fu is practiced and taught in Azerbaijan by the Sam Kwok Wing Chun Martial Arts Association (SKWCMAA), which was established in 1998 by Master Samuel Kwok, a disciple of Grandmaster Ip Man, who was the teacher of Bruce Lee. The SKWCMAA has clubs in Baku, Sumgait, Mingachevir and other cities. The SKWCMAA offers classes for beginners and advanced students, as well as seminars, workshops and demonstrations. The SKWCMAA also participates in international tournaments and exchanges.
